3 Mindset Tips for difficult times

There is no doubt 2020 has thrown all of us many challenges, some more than others. Thankfully there has been much help for our businesses through grants etc. .

Our emotions have been stretched and this challenges how we react. We need to be on top of our mindset, looking for opportunities rather than problems. I have provided three quick mindset tips to help you moving forward.

The situation has likely been faced before

An important point to remember during difficult times is that the difficult situation has likely been faced before. Either you, someone you know or someone that you can contact for help would have faced at least a similar situation. This means there is experience out there, and hopefully lessons that have previously been learnt.

Turn to how you have faced similar situations, or how others have overcome such situations. There is likely more than one solution to your difficulties. Look at your options, the help available and design your pathway to overcoming your difficult situation. You can come out as a stronger person.

Live above the line

When you live your life below the line you fail to be accountable and take responsibility for what occurs in your life, and your results. It is easy to blame people and circumstances for problems, but that is focusing on problems and will keep you always finding problems.

When you take ownership and responsibility for the things that happen to you, you are living above the line. This thinking will have you looking for solutions and progress. This will keep you in a much more positive mindset and help you overcome adversity and move forward.

Be accountable

Live to a higher standard. Be accountable for your thoughts and actions. Pay particular attention to your inner voice, is it negative and dragging you down, or is it uplifting and encouraging you?

Be sure to set written goals and check in with them often. Find an accountability buddy or someone to hold you to account. Get yourself a coach or a mentor. A mentor could be a formal arrangement, or someone you respect and gets the results you would like.

You may not have caused the difficult times, but you are 100% responsible for how you respond. By stepping up and taking responsibility you immediately give yourself more power and a better outlook.

Look for opportunities and positives rather than focussing on problems. Sometimes what appears to be a setback or even a roadblock can actually be an opportunity to reset and change to a better direction.

I would love to hear your ideas and experiences on getting through difficult times. If you would like to discuss this or other topics of interest drop me a line or give me a call. I would love to buy you a Covid safe coffee and have a chat.
